      How to Collect Seed Test Samples

      Instruction for collecting seed test samples.

      Purpose:

      To instruct on sterile and successful sample collection for the TUMI Genomics seed test

      Materials Needed:

      • Gloves
      • 10% Bleach Solution
      • Seed Collection Bag
      • Extra Barcode Stickers

      Procedure:

      1. Identify and label seed lot

        1. Identify the seed lot to be tested. Add the barcode sticker that corresponds to the collection bag to the lot bag. The barcode number will appear in your testing report.

      2. Collect Seeds

        1. Put on disposable gloves and spray covered hands with 10% bleach. With dry hands, collect 10-15 seeds per lot and place into the corresponding collection bag.
        2. Always sterilize hands with bleach when moving from one seed lot to another.

      3. Ship Samples to TUMI Genomics

        1. Place collection bags in the box they were shipped in or a bubble mailer. Ship samples to:
